Hutton nominated as the Yukon Liberals candidate for Mayo-Tatchun

MAYO – Don Hutton has been acclaimed as the Yukon Liberal candidate in his home riding of Mayo-Tatchun.

“Constituent concerns varied from contractors wanting better access to local work opportunities, to jobs for young people in all three municipalities, to other concerns with the economy, and, of course, many people are apprehensive about the fate of the Peel Watershed,” said Hutton, speaking of what he has heard from residents.

Hutton was born in Mayo Landing in 1956 and he has worked in Mayo in the fields of Wildland Fire and Resource Management for 34 years. He met and married Melody, his wife of 28 years, in Mayo and they raised their two children there.

“It is a very exciting time to join the Yukon Liberals.  Yukon is ready for change and this is the team that can deliver,” Hutton said.

As a lifelong Liberal supporter, Hutton says it was an easy decision to join the Liberal fold. He cites a desire for a new era of cooperative and collaborative relationships with Yukon’s First Nations as another important factor in his decision.

“I am very excited to have Don Hutton on the team,” said Sandy Silver, “He is a well-known individual who is an involved community member. I am confident that he will bring a well-rounded view of his constituents needs to the table and serve them with pride.”
