WHITEHORSE – Paolo Gallina was acclaimed as the Yukon Liberals’ candidate in the Porter Creek Centre riding on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. More than fifty people took out memberships with the Yukon Liberals to participate in the nomination meeting.
“Over the past month, I’ve been canvassing the riding to understand what’s important to people and their families,” said Gallina. “I’m grateful to have had such open and honest dialogue. Prevalent in my conversations were the number of unresolved constituent issues. People are tired of waiting for answers and being passed along; they want resolutions to their concerns in a timely manner and they would like to see the government take better action on their behalf.”
Gallina is a long-time Yukoner with a young family. He has a background in tourism, sport management and community investments across the three territories. His volunteer experience includes communications manager for Team Yukon, coaching kids softball and supporting other activities that his children are involved in.
Gallina’s interest in politics came from seeing an opportunity to apply his experience and skills in order to better represent Porter Creek Centre constituents and to make up a more responsible government.
“I value what the Liberals represent as a government and I believe that they are the best choice for Yukoners in the upcoming territorial election. I stand wholeheartedly behind the honest and respectful leadership of Sandy Silver and I look forward to joining the ever-growing list of Liberal candidates who are preparing to bring positive change to this territory,” said Gallina in his nomination speech.
“Paolo worked very hard in this riding to win the confidence of many people in his constituency. His tremendous work ethic and positive attitude make Paolo a welcome addition to the Yukon Liberals team,” said Leader, Sandy Silver.
