Kirk Cameron

Kirk Cameron, President, northSense management consulting, was born in Whitehorse, Yukon and has worked throughout Northern Canada. During his career, he has held positions in the Yukon Government, Province of British Columbia and Canada's Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development focussing on policy, planning and legislative development. While with DIAND, Kirk worked on the federal team responsible for creating the design and legislation for the new Nunavut Territory as well as other northern governance topics. His public service career culminated in his appointment as Yukon Government's Deputy Minister of the Executive Council Office and Cabinet Secretary. In this role he oversaw Devolution of land and resources administration to Yukon from the Government of Canada, the rewrite of the Yukon's Constitution (the Yukon Act), the settlement of a number of outstanding land claims and establishment of Yukon's Department of Environment.

In 2003, Kirk joined the environmental consulting firm, Gartner Lee Limited (now AECOM) as a company Principal and has held senior management and consulting roles providing governance services to private and public clients. In 2009 Kirk established the consulting firm, northSense management consulting. His practice continues to focus on governance and strategic advice to aboriginal and public governments, and to the private sector.

Kirk is co-author of two books, The Yukon's Constitutional Foundations (1991) and Northern Governments in Transition (1995), and has published a number of articles on government and constitutional development in Canada's North.
