Pauline Frost acclaimed in Old Crow

WHITEHORSE – Pauline Frost has been acclaimed as the Yukon Liberal candidate in Old Crow through an uncontested nomination for the party on August 30th, 2016.  As a citizen that has worked for the Vuntut Gwitchin Government in numerous senior capacities, it is a natural transition for her to seek election to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in this year’s territorial election.

Frost’s extensive and diverse professional background encompasses business and economic development, tourism, renewable resources and social and community wellness. Frost has dedicated her career to furthering the interests of the Vuntut Gwitchin people as a previous Government negotiator, Intergovernmental Coordinator, Director of the Yukon First Nation Self-Government Secretariat and Chair of the Yukon Salmon Sub-Committee. She is currently the President of the Vuntut Gwitchin Limited Partnership and sits on the Air North board.

“I am deeply connected to the Vuntut Gwitchin people and those living in Old Crow. I truly understand what it means to live in a small isolated community and how important it is for the Vuntut Gwitchin to be supported by a collaborative, unified and transparent territorial Government”.

Frost was born and raised in Old Crow, and left at an early age to attend high school and further her education before returning home to work in various professional capacities. Spending her time in both Whitehorse and Old Crow she has always kept her Gwitchin cultural connections strong, representing her people locally, nationally and internationally.  Her extensive involvement in the implementation of Self Government Agreements in Yukon and as a Porcupine Drainage representative at the international Yukon River Salmon Panel is a true testament to this.

“Wanting to make a difference and provide a new style of government is why I am excited to be running for the Yukon Liberal Party in Old Crow,” said Frost.  The Vuntut Gwitchin have accomplished so much and yet, under a Liberal government we will further the social and economic well-being for all of our citizens.”

“Pauline has long been dedicated to doing the best for her community and Yukon,” says Leader Sandy Silver. "We are very excited to have Pauline's experience as she joins this strong Liberal team and I look forward to working closely with her."
