Eric Fairclough was first elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the general election of September 30, 1996 and re-elected in the general elections of April 17, 2000, November 4, 2002 and October 10, 2006.

Mr. Fairclough is the Liberal caucus critic for the Department of Environment, the Department of Education, the Public Service Commission, and the Yukon Workers' Compensation Health and Safety Board.  Mr. Fairclough is also the Liberal caucus whip.

Before entering territorial politics Mr. Fairclough served six years as Chief of the Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation. In that capacity, he was also one of three directors on the Northern Tutchone Tribal Council. After graduating from F.H. Collins Senior Secondary School in Whitehorse, Mr. Fairclough pursued general studies and commerce at Mount Royal Community College in Calgary. During summer breaks, he worked on forest-fire crews in the Yukon. He also worked as a carpenter in Calgary. His volunteer activities have included serving on the Carmacks community justice board. An outdoors enthusiast, he also enjoys hockey, carpentry and mechanics.

Mr. Fairclough was born July 6, 1962 in Whitehorse and grew up in Carmacks, where he maintains his official residence. He has four children, Cherish, Mason, Christopher, and Hayley.
