Dan Curtis seeks nomination as the Liberal candidate for Whitehorse Centre

WHITEHORSE - Dan Curtis announced today he intends to seek the nomination to be the Yukon Liberal candidate for the Whitehorse Centre Downtown riding in the 2021 territorial election. Curtis is a life-long Yukoner who has served as the capital city’s Mayor since 2012, and is looking to continue his service to the community at the territorial level.

As Mayor, Curtis championed collaboration with First Nations on whose traditional territory Whitehorse sits. He values this collaboration and strongly believes Yukon’s future must include respectful relationships between First Nations, municipal, and territorial governments.

Curtis supported the revitalization of the Marwell area and much-needed improvements to the city's infrastructure by backing the construction of the new, energy-efficient municipal services building. His work also included supporting a number of inclusivity initiatives, championing the LGBTQ2S+ crosswalk and city pride celebrations.

“We are very happy that Dan has put his name forward for this nomination. His dedication to the people of Whitehorse has served this city well for almost a decade and we would be honoured to have him on our team.” Yukon Liberal Party Leader Sandy Silver

“Our downtown is the crown jewel of our city and it would be my honour to represent the riding in the Legislative Assembly. I have the experience and knowledge to represent the people of downtown, and I have the passion and dedication to make sure that this neighbourhood has a strong voice in the government.” Dan Curtis

The date for the 2021 election has yet to be set.
