On November 24, 2022, MLA Ranj Pillai announced his bid to become leader of the Yukon Liberal Party.

First elected as MLA for Porter Creek South in 2016, Ranj has served as the Deputy Premier, Minister of Economic Development, Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, Minister of Tourism and Culture, and Minister responsible for the Yukon Housing Corporation, Energy Corporation and Development Corporation.

Contributions entitle you to a Political Contributions Tax Credit on your next tax return.

Both individuals and corporations are eligible for the tax credit.  While there is no limit to how much you can donate, the maximum annual credit is $650.  

The credit amount is calculated as the sum of:

• 75% of the first $400 of contributions
• 50% of the next $350 of contributions
• 33.33% of the next $525 of contributions. 

For example, if you contribute $100.00, you will receive $75.00 off your taxes, making the actual cost to you only $25.00.

Identities of those who donate $250 or less are never made public.
