Like most Yukoners, I have had a busy summer. While touring the Yukon this summer, I met with several Chiefs and Mayors, attended community barbeques and helped with the Dawson City Music Festival. While doing so, I appreciated the many opportunities I had to hear what matters to you. These conversations always remind me of why I entered politics – to make sure that Yukoners are put first.
We are as ready as ever to make sure that happens. As the legislature begins this week, we've identified a few priorities based on your concerns.
- We want to make sure the government takes action on the economy to account for a slowing mining sector.
- We want the government to hold honest and fair consultations with First Nations instead of fighting them in the courts.
- And we want the government to be accountable for mismanaging your money on projects like the new F.H. Collins School and the Dawson Hospital.
We are acting on these issues because you've said they matter to you. You've said you want action, not politics, and we are working hard to make sure that happens. Over the next few weeks I will update you regularly on our progress.
Thank you again for all your support,
Sandy Silver
