Yukon Liberal Party hosts first two nomination meetings

Whitehorse - The nomination meetings for Yukon Liberal candidates in the ridings of Mount Lorne Southern Lakes and Whitehorse Centre will take place on March 2nd and 3rd respectively.

John Streicker will represent the party in Mount Lorne Southern Lakes and Tamara Goeppel will be the nominee for Whitehorse Centre.  Both candidates will be acclaimed.

"It is a privilege to get to put my name forward for the Liberals in Mount Lorne Southern Lakes," said Streicker. "I am interested to work towards less partisan politics to work constructively to achieve the best future for all Yukoners."

“Over the last few years, I feel our community has been torn apart by a government that is disrespectful of First Nations,” said Goeppel. “If we continue down this path we will have yet another rift in our community that will take another generation or two to heal and I want to stop that.”

Liberal leader Sandy Silver said he is proud to see the first two candidate nominated for the coming election.

“We are fortunate to be attracting some really great candidates who bring strong values and a desire to listen to and work alongside Yukoners,” said Silver. “Tamara and John are both important leaders in their communities and I am confident that they will both be huge assets to our Liberal team as well as their ridings.”

The nomination meeting for Mount-Lorne Southern Lakes will take place at the Mount Lorne Community Centre on March 2nd, 2016. For Whitehorse Centre the nomination meeting will be held on March 3rd, 2016 at the High Country Inn, room B1. Both meetings will take place at 7:00 pm with doors opening at 6:30 PM for membership renewals.

Silver said the Liberal Party is committed to open nominations and that people continue to step forward expressing their interest in running.
