Yukon Liberal Party thanks Member of the Legislative Assembly for Riverdale South, Tracy-Anne McPhee, for her service following her decision not to run in the 2025 territorial election
WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Liberal Party extends its sincere thanks to the Honourable Tracy-Anne McPhee, MLA for Riverdale South, as she prepares to conclude her time in elected office after nearly a decade of public service.
Throughout her time in office, McPhee has been a fierce and tireless advocate for Yukoners, drawing on her experience as senior legal counsel and an educator to inform her work in government. McPhee has served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Riverdale South since 2016. She has served as Attorney General, Minister of Justice, Minister of Education and Minister of Health and Social Services. She also served as Deputy Premier from 2021 to 2023.
As Minister of Justice, McPhee played a key role in introducing and passing modern and responsive Legislation to benefit Yukoners. She increased RCMP funding to support community safety, created Car867 to help respond to Yukoners in crisis, launched the Sexualized Assault Response Team and expanded it to communities, and integrated Restorative Justice options as part of the Justice system.
As the Minister of Education, McPhee improved access to education across the Territory by creating Yukon University, as well as building new school infrastructure, including Commission scolaire francophone du Yukon (CSSC Mercier) and Whistle Bend Elementary School.
As Minister of Health and Social Services, McPhee oversaw the creation of Shäw Kwä’ą (the Yukon’s Health Authority), the Whitehorse Walk-In Clinic, Centre de santé Constellation Health Centre, and supported new health infrastructure, including the Old Crow Health and Wellness Centre and the Mental Wellness Unit at Whitehorse General Hospital. Under her strong leadership, the Liberal government launched the territory’s first Midwifery Program, the Yukon Baby Basket Project, opened the Yukon’s first residential Managed Alcohol Program and strengthened recruitment and retention for health professionals across the Yukon.
“I’m incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made, and I’m honoured to have served Yukoners in these roles for over nine years. This Liberal team has served Yukoners through historically challenging times and has always risen to the occasion. We have all been supported by our loved ones, and all my achievements must be shared with Bruce and Noah. Hearing people’s stories, helping families navigate challenges, and working towards better health care, justice, and education systems has been deeply personal and meaningful to me. I believe in a Yukon where we look out for one another and build a better future together.
- MLA for Riverdale South Tracy-Anne McPhee
“On behalf of the Yukon Liberal Party, I want to thank Tracy for her years of service. Her work to strengthen health care, enhance public safety, and modernize our justice system has made a lasting difference for Yukoners. Tracy brought, and will continue to bring, warmth, care, compassion, and tremendous expertise to our team. She has been a steady and thoughtful leader, and her contributions will be felt for years to come. We are grateful for her dedication and wish her every success in the next chapter.”
- Leader of the Yukon Liberal Party Mike Pemberton
The next territorial election must be held on or before November 3, 2025.
