Amanda Brown is your new candidate for Watson Lake

WATSON LAKE - The Yukon Liberal Party has acclaimed Amanda Brown as the official candidate for the riding of Watson Lake. Brown’s candidacy was determined at the nomination meeting on Thursday, February 18.

Brown is currently a Councillor with the Liard First Nation and a health advocate. She is proud to serve her community and is a strong voice for health care equality and accessibility for all. Her experience throughout this pandemic has enhanced her understanding of what it means to support her community, both at home and on the territorial level.

Brown was born and raised in the town of Watson Lake. She respects and acknowledges the traditional territories of the Kaska Peoples and is committed to working collaboratively with the entire community to help Watson Lake to “Jānī gūtsʼį̄h gūtīe dēhdél”  (go forward in a good way!). With the recent partnerships between the Mayor and Town of Watson Lake and the Chief and Council of Liard First Nation, Brown knows firsthand what it means to partner in a meaningful way. She looks forward to bringing those experiences to the Liberal Party and territorial government.

“I am very happy to have Amanda on the Liberal team. She is extremely dedicated to the community of Watson Lake and has shown that through her work and her volunteer position. She is a great addition to the Yukon Liberal Party, and I know she will be a powerful voice for the people of Watson Lake.” - Yukon Liberal Party Leader Sandy Silver

“It is an honour and a privilege to run in the Territorial election to bring light to all the great work my home community and surrounding areas have done over the past year. We have created strong relationships and healed our community as best we can as new Leadership. I look forward to continuing to work hard for my people, for my community, and for all those who access resources in Watson Lake.”  - Amanda Brown
