WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Liberal Party is pleased to announce Louis Gagnon as its official candidate for the upcoming territorial election in Porter Creek Centre.

Louis is a longtime resident of the community, living here with his wife, Bobbi Rhodes, and their three children. Over the years, Louis has built a successful career as a hospitality industry consultant, restauranteur and entrepreneur. Working in collaboration with Whitehorse City Council, Louis established the food truck business in Whitehorse with his famous food truck, the “Garlic a GoGo, Mediterranean ToGo” that was featured on national TV. In the last four years, managing one of the territory’s first dispensaries, Louis has been a leader in the cannabis trade, working closely in the private sector to build a better understanding of this new industry.

Always willing to learn and support Yukoners, Louis joined the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce as a Director in 2020, bringing his experience and business acumen to the local community. Understanding that business affects both owners and employees, Louis is a strong voice advocating for both.

Louis has a keen understanding of the Yukon’s diverse needs and is focused on the issues that matter most to local residents. He recognizes that while members of the community may prioritize different concerns, several challenges affect everyone - such as affordable housing, cost of living, community safety, health care and the need for Whitehorse to keep pace with its growing and evolving population.

Louis believes in fostering a territory that promotes both social and economic opportunities, where community engagement and participation are central to decision-making. He advocates for a collaborative, responsive, and inclusive approach that empowers citizens to make informed choices about their future.

"Louis has been a genuine and passionate advocate for the Yukon - and Whitehorse in particular - for many years. He brings a down-to-earth, real approach paired with big ambitions for how we can all live our best lives in the city. His experience as an entrepreneur, combined with his heartfelt commitment to inclusive and collaborative leadership, makes him a trusted and powerful voice for Porter Creek Centre."

Mike Pemberton, Leader of the Yukon Liberal Party

"I am honoured to stand as the Yukon Liberal candidate and eager to work with all residents to tackle the issues that affect us all. More than ever, there is a need for us to move away from partisanship divisions and move towards collaboration and mutual understanding. Together we can build a stronger, more vibrant community where everyone has an equal place and a voice."
