LAKE LABERGE – The Yukon Liberal Party is proud to announce that Tom Amson will be the party’s official candidate in the riding of Lake Laberge for the upcoming territorial election.
Tom brings a deep commitment to community health and well-being, with over two decades of experience as an Addiction Counsellor, working directly with individuals and families across the Yukon. His career has focused on supporting people through some of the most difficult challenges of their lives, helping them recover, reconnect, and rebuild.
Throughout his work, Tom has seen firsthand the importance of strong public services — from mental health supports to housing and social programs — and how government policy can make a real difference in people’s lives. He’s known in the community for his grounded, empathetic approach and for putting people first.
Tom has also been actively involved in local community initiatives and volunteer efforts, with a strong focus on youth programming, harm reduction, and mental wellness. His professional and personal life reflect a core belief in dignity, inclusion, and support for every Yukoner.
As a lifelong Yukoner, Tom understands the unique needs of rural communities and is passionate about representing them at the territorial level.
"Tom has built a career on compassion, integrity, and showing up for people when it matters most. He’ll bring that same energy to the Legislative Assembly. I’m so proud to welcome him to our team."
Mike Pemberton, Leader of the Yukon Liberal Party
"It’s an honour to run to represent Lake Laberge - the place I’ve called home for years. I’ve spent my career helping Yukoners navigate tough times, and I want to take that experience to government to ensure no one is left behind. I believe in a Yukon that works for everyone."
