Tracey Jacobs has put her name forward as the Yukon Liberal Party candidate for Lake Laberge. Jacobs, a proud Yukoner since 1982 is a successful business owner, placer miner, strong community volunteer, and outdoor enthusiast.
Jacobs, and her husband Peter, were placer miners in the gold fields of Dawson City for more than 12 years. For the past two years, Tracey has been a familiar face at many local craft fairs across the territory, where she showcases works of art from her custom metal fabrications business, JJ Designs. She continues to work at her other business, Mosquito Jet Boats.
Jacobs is an avid outdoors adventurist who loves exploring Yukon’s diverse landscapes. She enjoys racing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, motorcycling, boating, camping, hunting and fishing.
Jacobs has volunteered countless hours for events and causes connected to the family’s many hobbies. She was the president of White Out Snowmobile Racing Club for many years as well as the Acting Race Director for all of their events, including Thunder on Ice, a 500-mile snowmobile lake race previously held in Whitehorse.
In addition to those roles, Jacobs has spent many hours with family and friends at the snowmobile track, the motor cross track, soccer fields, basketball courts, concerts, and the dance studio as a coach and cheerleader. She has been married for 33 years and has two children as well as a granddaughter.
“Tracey has a really diverse background and brings a great mix of experience to the team. As a successful business person, she knows what is needed to run a business. As a placer miner, she understands hard work and perseverance. The people of Lake Laberge know it is time for a new voice and Tracey is absolutely the best person for the job.”
